Northern Star School Safety Coalition was founded in the wake of the Uvalde tragedy by veterans, law enforcement professionals, educators, and clinicians who refused to wait for someone else to act. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit coalition delivering free, evidence‑based school safety services to underserved communities.

Our Mission
The causes of school violence begin in the community. So must the solutions.
Northern Star is a coalition of educators, criminologists, mental health clinicians, retired law enforcement officers, school safety engineers, and veterans united by a single conviction: that every act of school violence is preceded by warning signs that communities can be trained to see and interrupt.
Our evidence‑based, community‑first methodology addresses the root causes — the trauma, the isolation, the crisis points that research tells us precede nearly every act of school violence. School safety isn’t a metal detector problem. It’s a community problem, and it demands a community‑based solution.
All Northern Star services are provided free to qualifying schools and communities, underwritten by donors and sponsors who share our belief that no school should face a preventable crisis alone.

Every service and recommendation draws from peer‑reviewed research, federal grant standards, and validated frameworks including CASEL, RAND, CDC, and Kirkpatrick evaluation methodology.
Community‑Centered
Safety plans are co‑developed with the communities they serve — not imposed on them. Local educators, law enforcement, parents, and students lead the process.
Yours to Keep
Every plan, audit, and training we deliver is designed for independent implementation. Communities own their safety infrastructure and don’t depend on us to maintain it.
